With Thanksgiving just a bit away, many of you are starting to worry about the dreaded "Holiday weight".

This week, we'll look at ways to help prevent that, while letting you enjoy your time with family and friends, because isn't that what the holidays are really about?

Fitness

As the weather turns colder, and the nights arrive earlier, it gets harder to motivate yourself to be physically active. According to Dr. Norman E. Rosenthal M.D. that's because "Light has the ability to fire up your brain's serotonin levels, just like and antidepressant."

With this in mind, it is all the more vital that you get out and enjoy the sunlight when you can.

Why not take a walk to a local restaurant during your lunch break, or just head outside and walk. You might as well enjoy the good weather while you can.

Nutrition

I know that the biggest fear of people is all of unhealthy nature of binging on all of the delicious comfort food that you will be presented with on Thanksgiving.

Here's the good news, you can still enjoy all of it, just in moderation. Instead of piling that plate full of wonderful, creamy starchy mashed potatoes, covered in rich gravy, fill your plate with super nutritious turkey. If there are steamed veggies, fill up on those.

I'm not saying that you can't have the yummy stuff, I'm just suggesting that you fill up on the healthy stuff and add a bit of the yummy for pleasure.

Here are some delicious and healthy recipes for your big day.

And remember, you don't have to eat EVERYTHING in one sitting. You can eat a bit, then wait a few hours and eat something else. You're body will be much happier if you give it little bits of food throughout the day, than it will be if you feed it everything all at once. This technique will also help prevent the dreaded Thanksgiving sleepy feeling and the next day food hangover.

Mind Body Connection

This Thanksgiving, try and use the time to be thankful. I know I mention gratitude and positive attitude a lot, but that's just because that's how much I believe in it. Mindset is so important. How you think about something changes how you experience it. Try and go into all encounters with love and positivity. I know, this can be a stressful time of year. Try not to allow any toxicity into your mind and heart. If you must avoid some people and situations, do so. You owe yourself love and peace this holiday season.

Make the best of this year's Thanksgiving. Don't dread it. Enjoy it. If you approach it with fear and reservation, making certain foods taboo, you are bound to end the night feeling guilty. That's no way to live.

Enjoy your meal, then encourage the family to go for a nice long walk around the neighborhood together. Grab some cameras and take wonderful pictures of the family and nature while you do it. What a wonderful way to bond with each other create meaningful family memories.

Last of all, be thankful.

We here at Fit Life, Healthy Life are thankful for the support of all of our friends and family and the ability to celebrate a life filled with love and joy.

Love you all,

Kris
