Welcome to the Roaring 20's!!!


Welcome 2020! I am so excited about this New Year! I'm not all about the New Year, New Me thing, but I do love the knowing that there is a bright shiny new year ahead. I cannot wait to see what this decade brings for everyone. I'll be working on my strength, endurance, and overall health. What are some of your goals for the year?

Fitness

Baby, it's cold outside. No matter where you are in the country it's cold right now. This makes your muscles feel heavy and sluggish.

The best way to combat this heavy sluggish feeling? Exercise.

You know what is fun to do, to avoid the cold? Turn your favorite music on high, put your workout gear on, and start dancing your little heart out!

Dance for 30-60 minutes, it doesn't need to be choreographed it just needs to be fun.

Nutrition

Let's continue finding ways to be healthy while fighting the heavy sluggishness of cold.

A nice big pot of soup is always a great way to combat the cold. Make it a vegetable heavy soup, and it makes you feel healthy at the same time.

Try making one of my favorite healthy vegetable soups:

Lentil Kale and Spinach Vegetable Soup

In a large soup pot, combine 12 cups vegetable stock, a bag of frozen soup mix, a bag of kale, a bag of spinach, and a can of diced tomatoes. Bring to a simmer for 10 minutes. Add 8 ounces of lentils, simmer for 20 minutes. Add cayenne powder to taste.

Mind and Body

Let's talk about grounding. Grounding yourself will help you calm down, it'll help you feel more relaxed and focused. Mindfulness has been shown to help with anxiety and depression.

Just sit and try and calm your mind for one minute. You may find this difficult. That's to be expected. To get some help, check out these apps.

There are endless possibilities for how absolutely amazing 2020 can be. Let's start this new year off positively and reach for the best!
